Loyalty

Loyalty

The way that I explain loyalty to kindergarten children is by being a good friend.  We look at characteristics of a good friend and what it means to be a good friend. The children know that good friends support you and are there when you are happy and sad.  They know when you need a hug or when you need someone to talk to.  Good friends are there when you make good and bad choices and will always forgive you.

Here are the children's responses to Loyalty:

"I play with my friends even if they are being bad, I am still their friend."

"We are nice all the time."

"If my friend says something that isn't nice, I tell them to STOP and then I forgive them and I'm not mad."

"It's when I make my friends laugh."

"It's when I help my friends."

"When someone is bugging my friend and I tell them to stop doing that and then if they don't I tell a teacher to help them."

"It's when I make my friends smile."
