Fairness is very important with 27 little children in the class. They are all learning take take turns and play fair. With games, lining up, getting a drink of water, having a turn to speak and all the things that happen in school, fairness is very important. The children all know that they may not all get a turn doing things because there are so many kids in the class but they all know that maybe next time they will get a turn. That's O.K. with them because they know I always try to be fair. Here are the children's responses to fairness: "Being kind." "We have to be nice." "It has to be the same, like if someone is cleaning up, we all help and clean up." "We share things, so that everybody has equal." "We are nice and we share." "We don't trick people." "Don't cheat in games!" "It's fair when we share toys with other people so everybody gets to check them out and stuff." "When you say clean up time and people are cleaning up and half are cleaning up and half are not cleaning up then that's not fair." |
