Dignity and Respect

Dignity and Respect

From day one I have talked to the children about respect for each other. The entire year of Kindergarten we focus on socialization and on communication.  We respect the children and parents and value what they have to say.  The children and parents in turn respect us and support our school community.  The children are asked to respect each other by:

  • Looking at the person when they are talking.
  • Listen to what they are saying.
  • Keeping their voices quiet when someone is talking.
  • Waiting their turn to talk.
  • Not laughing at what someone has to say.

Here are the children's responses to what Respect means to them:

"To listen to what people are saying.  Don't talk when other people are talking."

"I listen very carefully to what people are saying."

"Being kind."

"To listen."

"To look when someone is talking."

"To be loving."

"To share."
