CELEBRATING ADVENT
MISS BORRELLI'S GRADE 1D CLASS

Advent is the season of waiting and preparing.  In order to assist the children in developing a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the Advent Season, they were involved in making a personal Advent wreath.  These personal wreaths were a central part of our "journey" through the Advent Season.  We gathered around the wreaths each morning to share Advent stories, prayers and songs.

PREPARING THE ADVENT WREATHS

Materials Required (For One Wreath):
  • 1 Styrofoam Ring
  • 1 Meter Length of Evergreen Garland
  • 4 White Candles
  • 1 Piece of Pink Ribbon
  • 2 Pieces of Purple Ribbon
Assembling the Wreaths:
  1. Carve 4 small holes into the Styrofoam ring (do not go right through-these will be the spaces that the candles will be glued into).
  2. Evenly wrap the Styrofoam ring with the evergreen garland.
  3. Using a hot glue gun, glue the candles into the pre-made holes.
  4. Tie a ribbon around each of the candles.

WRAP THE STYROFOAM RING WITH GARLAND!

TIE RIBBONS TO THE CANDLES AND ADD THE CANDLES TO THE WREATH
